ENTERING RECOVERY PHASE

Sri Lanka officially reopened for international tourism.

 

 

 

 

MEASURES

  • Starting from 21 January 2021, the international tourism has been resumed.
  • The international travellers shall fulfill the requirements as stipulated in the Sri Lanka Tourism Safety Protocols. The Protocols cover guidelines for the following aspects:
    • International arrivals
    • Visa application
    • Pre-flight preparation
      • A PCR test shall be carried out approximately 96 hours before the flight.
      • A health declaration form shall be submitted prior to boarding, on board or upon arrival.
      • The travellers are requested to purchase the COVID-19 insurance for a value of at least $50,000 for 1 month
      • All tourists are requested to stay in Level 1 certified ‘’Safe & Secure’’ hotel for the initial 14 days.
    • Hotel accommodation
      • All tourists are requested to stay in Level 1 certified ‘’Safe & Secure’’ hotel for the initial 14 days.
      • All tourists are prohibited from going out for the first 14 days unless the movement has been approved by the COVID Taskforce.
    • PCR testing
      • All tourists are subject to an on-arrival PCR test and the second PCR test 5-7 days after their arrival at hotel. The third PCR test will be carried out if the tourist is planning to stay exceed 7 days.
    • Transport arrangement
    • Tour guides, drivers and other personnel
    • Managing COVID-19 PCR positive guests
    • Visiting tourist sites
      • For travelers tested negative on arrival PCR test, they are permitted to visit approved tourism sites and attractions under biosafety bubble. The visits shall be carried out with specific requirements, including but not limited to specific timeslots allocated for tourism sites, special arrangements throughout the trip, submission of itinerary.
