RESTRICTIONS STILL IN PLACE

Increased detection of Indian variant in the community.

MEASURES

  • On 28 June 2021, the Ministry of Health announced that the Indian virus variant has confirmed to be detected in Madiwela and Kahathuduwa.
    • Four Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Kegalle District are being isolated effective from 26 June 2021.
  • Following the restrictions to be fully lifted on 5 July, the restrictions on inter-province travels remain in place until 19 July as part of the preventive measures in curbing the infection. However, essential services, including health, power, military, police, water supply, petroleum, media, and some private and government institution will be permitted to travel.
