RESTRICTIONS STILL IN PLACE

Detection of Indian variant for the first time in the community.

MEASURES

  • On 17 June 2021, it was reported that the Indian virus variant (Delta/B.1.617.2) has been detected in the community, Dematagoda, for the first time. The area is now under isolation.
  • This leads to a risk of the Delta variant spreading to other districts, and thus the government urged health authorities to be alert on this and all preventive measures shall be carried out in tackling the spread of the variant.
