ENTERING RECOVERY PHASE

Daily curfew has been further relaxed.

MEASURES

  • Starting from 14 June onwards, curfew will only be implemented from 12:00am to 04:00am daily across the country until further notice. The daily curfew was previously implemented from 11:00pm to 04:00am. The economic and social activities operate as usual during the non-curfew hours with the adherence to the issued Guidelines.
  • On 17 June, the Central Bank has introduced new initiatives to support government in reviving economy in the country. A few actions include but not limited to refinance scheme for businesses affected by the COVID-19, new credit scheme exclusively for construction sector enterprises, reduction of Statutory Reserve Ratio (SRR) which assists liquidity to the domestic money market, have been shared.
  • In addition, the government is considering to reopen the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake to tourists before 1 August. According to the Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, all tourists would subject to PCR tests on their arrival.
