- On 16 November, South Australia reimposed social distancing restrictions after detecting 21 COVID-19 cases, most of which were local transmissions. These cases were the first in Australia in nine days.
- A six-day lockdown was later imposed on South Australia on 18 November, as authorities face to contain the new coronavirus cluster in Adelaide city.
- New South Wales and Victoria have reopened their state borders after Victoria has appeared to successfully eliminated a second wave of coronavirus infections. The nation will lift more internal border restrictions in a boost for domestic tourism.
- With hopes to restart international travel and first vaccines likely available by March 2021, Australia’s national carrier Qantas will require international travellers to be vaccinated.
- As a gesture of goodwill, Australia has offered Indonesia AUD$1 billion to aid the country’s economic recovery – the latest in a line of measures intended to bolster Canberra’s relationships with its APAC counterparts.
