RESTRICTIONS STILL IN PLACE

Philippines imposed entry ban for travellers coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

MEASURES

  • On 5 May 2021, the Philippines announced the entry ban for travelers coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka from 7 May 2021 to 14 May 2021.
    • However, all Filipinos coming from or who have been to the four countries are not banned from entry, but shall be required to undergo 14-day quarantine period at the allocated facility.
    • Filipinos and foreign passengers who transit in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh shall not be deemed as having come from or having been to such country if and only if they have stayed in the airport the whole time and were not cleared for entry into these countries.
      • These passengers need not complete the full 14-day facility-based quarantine, however, they shall comply with existing testing and quarantine protocols.
  • On 14 May 2021, the Philippines announced the extension of entry ban for travellers coming from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka until 31 May 2021.
    • In addition, the entry ban will be expanded to Oman and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

IMPACT ON FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Under GCQ, businesses and employees involved in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food manufacturing and food supply chain businesses (supermarkets, grocery stores, food preparation establishments for take-away & delivery only, food delivery services) are allowed to operate at full operational capacity. Restaurants and cafes are only allowed to operate with 30% venue capacity.
  • Under MGCQ, similar to GCQ, all the businesses and employees involved in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food manufacturing and food supply chain businesses (supermarkets, grocery stores, food preparation establishments for take-away & delivery only, food delivery services) are allowed to operate at full operational capacity. A maximum of fifty percent (50%) of seating capacity has been given to the restaurants and cafes for the operations.
