South African coronavirus strain detected in New Zealand
On 25 January, New Zealand confirms its first COVID-19 community case in over two months, when one case tested positive for the South African strain of the coronavirus following a two-week mandatory quarantine.
Australian Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has since suspended the nation’s travel bubble with New Zealand for 72 hours.

Auckland remains on Alert Level 2, but moves out of lockdown as it battles to control the outbreak of COVID-19 that re-emerged in the city in August.
