Testing for COVID-19 disrupted due to protests.

UPDATES

  • The number of daily tests fell since the military seized power.
  • The Health Ministry made an appeal to health workers for their support to help with the vaccination campaign.
  • Export of goods is expected to be affected with cancellations of upcoming shipments and sanctions from Myanmar’s trading partners, where previous trade enjoyed duty-free access to goods, especially the apparel industry which made up one-third of the country’s total exports.
  • Border trade in Mae Sai district in Thailand was temporarily disrupted as vehicles that carried goods from Thailand were not able to enter Myanmar due to protests at the border.
