ENTERING RECOVERY PHASE
The government extended Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
MEASURES
- On 28 August, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) will be extended until 31 December 2020. Previously, the RMCO was scheduled to be end on 31 August.
- During the RMCO’s extension, the enforcement would continue under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342). The foreign tourists will continue to be barred from entering Malaysia during RMCO to prevent the spread of imported cases. All sectors have been allowed to resume business operation, excluding night clubs and entertainment outlets.
- In addition, the fines for those who break the laws will be increased to twice/thrice the current amount.
