RESTRICTIONS STILL IN PLACE
Japan expanded state of emergency from Tokyo to Osaka and other prefectures.
MEASURES
- On 30 July 2021, the government announced that Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama and Osaka prefectures will be placed under the state of emergency.
- The announcement came into force on 2 August and it will remain in force until 31 August.
- Meanwhile, the state of emergency for Tokyo and Okinawa which was previously scheduled to be end on 22 August has been extended to the end of August.
- Under state of emergency,
- Food establishments offering alcohol or providing karaoke services are requested to close during this period;
- Food establishments which are not serving alcohol are requested to close at 8pm.
- Besides, quasi-state of emergency will be imposed for the following five prefectures:
- Hokkaido, Ishikawa, Kyoto, Hyogo, Fukuoka.
- Under quasi-state of emergency,
- Serving alcohol remains prohibited;
- Food establishments which are not offering alcohol are requested to close at 8pm;
- Governors in these prefectures are authorised to ease restrictions depending on the situations in the prefecture.
- The quasi-state of emergency will remain in force until 31 August.
