Japan and Malaysia agreed to consider easing travel restrictions for expatriates in early September.

MEASURES

  • On 14 Aug, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced that the government and Malaysia government agreed to consider easing travel restrictions for expatriates in early of September of 2020, provided precautionary measures (e.g. 14-day self-quarantine) will be taken.
  • Currently, Japan is banning foreign nationals from 146 countries and regions from entering Japan. However, the government has started the discussion with 16 countries/regions, including Malaysia to work on the resumption of travel.
