Australia’s retail hit by coronavirus outbreak.

  • On 21 July 2021, New South Wales and Victoria reported sharp increases in new COVID-19 cases, a blow to hopes that lockdown restrictions would be lifted. Continued lockdown means the retail sector shrank by 1.8% compared to June, 4 times the drop economists forecasted.
  • On 19 July 2021, the South Australian Department of Health released a list of venues associated with a positive COVID-19 case. Anyone at the listed venues at the specified times needed to self-quarantine for 14 days and be tested twice – within 48 hours and at day 12.
