- On 20 June 2021, Australia filed a complaint to the WTO regarding China’s anti-dumping duties on wine exports. Relations have been poor since Australia called for an international inquiry into COVID-19, which originated in China. Australia hopes to kickstart bilateral discussion with China over the anti-dumping duties.
- Australia is mulling a travel bubble with Singapore, but has indicated it will take its time in re-opening its borders.
- While COVID-19 has eased in Melbourne, a new outbreak has emerged in Sydney. The government has reimposed mandatory maskwearing in public transport and retail outlets throughout Sydney, but has stopped short of ordering a lockdown.
