  • On 17 December, New South Wales (NSW) records six local COVID-19 cases – ending nearly a two-week run of zero cases. Authorities are scrambling to trace the source of these new cases, while urging residents to get tested if they experience any flu-like symptoms.
  • Over the last two months, various states across the country have slowly started to reopen their borders to boost domestic travel. However, Queensland and South Australia are actively considering border restrictions as they monitor the situation in NSW.
  • Unemployment rates has fallen by 0.2% in November, with employment-to-population ratio increasing by 0.4 points to 61.6%
