ENTERING RECOVERY PHASE
Ardern urged to drop “zero tolerance” policy as cases rise.
MEASURES
- On 29 September 2021, New Zealand (NZ) recorded its highest number of daily cases since 2 September 2021. Opposition leader Ms. Judith Collins wants to drop NZ’s “zero tolerance” strategy and reopen borders, after Director General of Health Mr. Ashley Bloomfield said NZ “may not get back to zero”.
- This comes after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern eased lockdown curbs in capital Auckland on 20 September. Dine-in is still prohibited under Level 3 restrictions.
